A classic chess set combination – beautifully elegant Windsor Series Chessmen in solid ebony and boxwood matched with our luxurious Montgoy Palisander and Maple Veneer Chess Board. The Windsor pieces are well proportioned and balanced. The are hand turned and finished with a natural polish.
This Staunton design displays some of the classic characteristics of the original yet has a more contemporary feel. The woods of the chess board contrast nicely with the colour of the chessmen and the eggshell lacquer of the board improves the richness of grain and provides an element of protection.
This chess set includes a burl effect chess piece case with a hinged lid.
Please note that when the chessmen are placed in the box it is normal and intentional for them to lay down on top of each other. They are NOT intended to stand up inside the box.
The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
