Crafted from selected boxwood, this set of chess pieces offers remarkable quality for the price. As each piece is constructed from one section of wood, subsequently they are strong and robust. This process ensures that every chess piece in this set will last for generations rather than just a few years.

Despite their great price, all of the Down Head Knight range is crafted and finished to an excellent standard. Each piece has been hand-polished to a medium gloss finish, to create an excellent but not overstated shine. The black pieces are ebonised boxwood: a process that creates the look of real ebony and further strengthens and preserves the wood.

This board is produced by the reputable family Manopoulos based in Greece and is a superbly presented wooden chess board that represents great value for money. If you can bear to put the pieces away, we have also provided a quality fabric chess bag in a rich burgundy colour. The top of the bag has metal eyelets and a pull cord which pulls tight, sealing the chess pieces inside, protecting them whilst not in use.
