The high quality of finish and attention to detail on these solid wooden chessmen exceeds far beyond what you expect from such a modestly priced set. Each chess piece has been expertly turned from solid boxwood. A very convincing process that gives the look of real ebony, the black pieces are created using ‘ebonisation’.
Each piece is then weighted and felted on the base. and as such, the Arundel Staunton Chess Pieces represent excellent value for money.
The 3.5 inch king height in this set makes them ideal for this superbly presented wooden chess board. Produced by reputable chess board artisan Rechapados Ferrer S.A. of Spain, they have used quality Walnut and Maple veneers and a construction using modern fabrication techniques to create a board with sharp lines, fastidious detailing and a clean modern manner.

Perfectly created in laminated dark wenge coloured wood by the famous family run company, Manopoulos of Greece, you can rest assured this chess piece case has been beautifully made by expert craftsmen. The addition of brass colour hinges and the Manopoulos signature brass clasps to keep the lid closed, results in a product that is classic and timeless.

Please note that when the chessmen are placed in the box it is normal and intentional for them to lay down on top of each other. They are NOT intended to stand up inside the box.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
