THE PIECES
Depicting typical Ancient Egyptian characters and artefacts, the sides are divided between ornately painted on gold or black and gold.

As to be expected the Kings are easy to recognise. Royal figures often wore elaborate headdresses, the colour and size of which was defined by the significance or event. The blue and gold headdress, that we tend to associate with a pharaoh, is called a Nemes. A pharaoh is also recognised by his crossed arms, holding a crook in one hand and a flail in the other. Also easily recognised by her headdress, is the beautiful Queen sat very regally with a ‘palms on knees’ pose.

Please note that as these pieces are hand painted, there may be some inconsistencies in the level of detail and colour and therefore your pieces may be very slightly different from the images shown. Any inconsistencies however are minimal.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
