This is a chess set combination that is large, traditional and elegant without being ostentatious. This erable root wood board at almost 24 inches in width looks magnificent to say the least. Hand made in Italy, the quality of lacquering is the best we have ever seen. Underneath the board the lacquered veneer is mounted with felt pads to provide both protection to the board and other surfaces. To complete the set, we have added our 3.75 inch Cheltenham Series Chessmen in Ebony, which are equally impressive, creating a large chess combination that is substantial in size and without compromise in quality.

The Cheltenham Series chess pieces are turned by hand. The four knights have been painstakingly carved by hand which is evident in the detailing. All the pieces have been expertly finished and polished and are balanced well.
