Wenge wood is frequently used in modern interiors due to its parallel graining and abundance in dark, rich tones. This superb quality, extra large chess board is produced by master chess board maker Rechapados Ferrer of Spain. High grade wenge and maple veneered construction is used throughout, including the base. Modern fabrication techniques are used, which provides a board with clean, contemporary lines and critical detailing. This board is perfectly complemented by chess pieces with a king height of 4 inches (102 mm).

This chess board has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
